The Brief
To create a kitchen that sat well within the architectural heritage of the house whilst having a contemporary feel embracing the clients’ eclectic taste and love of colour. With four young children, a busy lifestyle and active social life they wanted a space that would work for them now and as the family grows.
The Design
THE DESIGNS TOOK INSPIRATION FROM PERIOD FEATURES IN THE HOUSE. THE HERITAGE KITCHEN FROM OUR CRAFTSMAN COLLECTION WAS THEREFORE THE PERFECT CHOICE.
The plan
The existing kitchen was at the back of the house in the original scullery. Although it contained original features it was old and badly designed.
As the house was listed, we worked with the Wiltshire Conservation Officer to move the kitchen into the dining room to give the clients the space they wanted.
THE CLIENTS DECIDED TO KEEP THE EXISTING DINING TABLE. A FRENCH DINING BENCH AND SCHOOL CHAIRS WERE INCORPORATED AND A VINTAGE TRESTLE TABLE CREATED A CENTREPIECE FOR THE ROOM
HERITAGE DETAILS
THE HAND MADE KITCHEN IS FINISHED WITH Reclamation Glass, traditional colours from farrow and ball, solid brass furniture and a carrara marble effect quartz worktop
Out of sight
Creating a walk-in pantry in a small side room maximised the storage space in the kitchen and created a feature of an otherwise awkward little space
“The window seat takes advantage of the afternoon sun and is a perfect social nook.”
